Have you ever tried fighting fear with prayer?
For the most part, prayer is my #1 go-to when I’m scared. Sometimes it takes me a bit to get there, but when I do, I am ever so thankful that I did.
I’m blogging over on Candidly Christian today about three ways prayer can help you overcome your fears, but before I send you that way, I want to share five Bible verses about fighting fear with prayer.
5 Bible Verses About Fighting Fear With Prayer
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Peter 5:7 NIV
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 ESV
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9 NIV
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
Psalm 56:3 ESV
When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.
Psalm 94:18-19 NIV

Can I Be Honest?
Sometimes having the Bible verses just leaves me hanging.
Like, okay… and?
Or, that’s great… but how does that play out in real life?
When someone says, “Cast all your anxieties on God because He cares for you,” and you’re standing there like… okay, but my problems are all still here. I love Jesus but this is real-life.
Have you ever felt that way?
If so, I hope you’ll hop on over to Candidly Christian and read my post “How to Overcome Fear with Prayer.” In it, I share a recent real-life scary experience I had, and how I got through it with prayer.

I love the verses you shared. Another one I cling to is Isaiah 41:10: “So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Thank you for this great reminder and also for the post, “How to Overcome Fear With Prayer.” Blessings to you!
