Check Out This New Breathtakingly Beautiful Bible from Crossway

November 20, 2017

Do you have a Bible you just love?

A few years ago I ordered a copy of the ESV Single Column Journaling Bible and fell in love with it (watch my video review here). I originally purchased it because I wanted a Journaling Bible and it was super affordable. But I couldn’t ask for a better Bible for every day use. My notes in the margins make flipping back through the pages extra special (I wrote about that here).

Because I love the ESV Single Column Journaling Bible so much, I was excited to hear about the new ESV Illuminated Bible. It’s also a single column journaling Bible and it is absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful. However, it’s so exquisite, I don’t think I could ever bring myself to mark in it. It makes me just want to cherish the Word of God in a whole new way.

If you are looking for a new Bible for yourself, or looking for one to give to someone special this Christmas, I would highly recommend the these Bibles, and this new Bible from Crossway would make a beautiful gift. I have one for a special someone on my list – AND I have one to bless one of my readers with (Special thanks to Propeller Fly By Promotions and Crossway for these Bibles).

Not only is this a beautiful Bible but this will be a beautiful Bible for me to add my personal touch and hand down to my family and future generations. My legacy is leaving my Bible that I have written my personal notes in about what the scripture says to me that day and how it effects me. I let the reader know I am not perfect. I do drawings in the margins because I am a visual person so doing a drawing that goes with a verse helps me understand it even more. I have been doing this for 8 years now and it takes me 2 to 3 years. My current Bible I am doing a coloring system along with my own notes and drawings.

    • Reply Heather Hart November 21, 2017 at 8:06 am

That’s awesome, Anne. I am not artistic and my carpal tunnel keeps me from even attempting to draw or color, but I love taking notes in mine. It’s like a beautiful two-way conversation between me and Jesus.

Journaling Bibles are great for having conversations with God, Rosemary. I absolutely love mine. I have written questions in the margins that I wanted to look up answers to later, noted cross references and thoughts. It’s a great way to grow your faith.

Your blog is beautiful! I’ve also never really read the ESV, so I would love to win it.

    • Reply Heather Hart November 21, 2017 at 8:10 am

That’s why I originally got my ESV Journaling Bible as well, Jordan. My pastor preaches out of the ESV, so I thought I should check it out, and I had just heard of journaling Bibles, so that’s what I went with. I’m so thankful!

I love the idea of a Bible that you can take notes in righ next to what you read! It would be so cool to go back and read them later to remember what you were learning at that point.

    • Reply Heather Hart November 21, 2017 at 8:13 am

Oh Tiana, I hope you win!! If you don’t you might check with a local church to see if they have any Bibles available. I know my church has Bibles we give away to anyone who wants one, and sometimes we even have nicer Bibles like this. It just depends. So it may be worth checking out.

Hi my name is Natalia! I really want to win this beautiful bible because my baby brother (who is 2) wrote all over my bible that I had for four years. I’m really hoping to get this bible to make memories with it just like my old one. I want to have space to write in my bible so this is perfect. I really hope I win!

    • Reply Heather Hart November 21, 2017 at 8:15 am

Oh no! When my twins were two one of them ripped a page out of my Bible. So I got a new one and they ripped it too. I just taped that one back together. Kids are cute, but thin Bible pages are no match for them.

Last April I lost my daughter when she was born stillborn full term unexpectedly. I fell into a dark hole, but I knew that only God could save me and give me the comfort and peace I needed in order to heal. So, I dove into the word of God, and hung onto all His promises. Slowly he brought me back to life, when I no longer wanted to live. I would love to win this bible, because God saved my life.

  • Reply Chantal McDougall November 20, 2017 at 5:10 pm

I would really like to win this bible for recently at a conference I was reminded I need to meditate on God’s word and not just read it quickly. A journaling bible would be a great resource for me to use to help set me on a deeper track of discovery of God’s word.

    • Reply Heather Hart November 21, 2017 at 9:00 am

Yes! On one of the pages of my Bible I wrote, “Don’t just read the word, behold the mighty works of God.” It’s so important to slow down and realize how amazing what we are reading is.

This Bible would be such a blessing for one of us!! Thank you for your generosity!!
I have been looking at them, as I have written in the margins of my Bibles for years. I have buy new Bibles when so many of the favorite books’ margins have so many notations, there isn’t any more room!! I was thinking of purchasing one, too, because I am starting a new women’s Bible study with an emphasis on journaling in January, so this would be perfect! Thank you so much for all your lovely emails and for all you do for the cause of Christ and us!! <3 Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!! <3

    • Reply Heather Hart November 21, 2017 at 9:02 am

What a fun study, Donna! The women at my church have expressed an interest in a study like that, but I don’t feel qualified to teach it. I’m better at inductive studies. They want to do more illustrations than anything else.

  • Reply Judith Martinez November 20, 2017 at 10:39 pm

I really like that the ESV is a word for word translation that is at a lower reading level than my faithful favorite the NASB. I’d love to have an ESV in the house to help my kids read God’s word at a younger age.

    • Reply Heather Hart November 21, 2017 at 9:04 am

It is easy to read, Judith. A couple years back my daughter read a passage at the Christmas eve service and we went through several translations looking for the one that would be easiest for a new reader to read aloud. I think for her passage we went with NIV, but the ESV was a close second. There was just one word in her passage that was easier in the NIV.

My favourite part of this blog post was the video you have put in the middle plus the details you gave about the product.

It’ll help your audience to find out if this should be their next Bible or a gift for a friend?

I look forward to reading your next blog post.

I just watched the video with Dana, the illustrator, telling about this Bible and her work.
What a special, special book. I didn’t know there was a way to make the Bible more special and meaningful, but Crossway and Dana have done it. Just hearing about it makes me want to hold it in my hands. This is an inspiring way to get more people to read more of God’s word and inspire a feeling of cherishing which is as it should be.
I should love to win one and I’m happy for whoever does win.
